Overview of Experts@UGA and UGA Elements

UGA Elements acts as an internal repository for faculty, postdocs, and graduate/professional students to collect metadata about their professional activities and scholarly and creative outputs. These data can then be used for internal activity reports, curriculum vitae, résumés, biographical sketches, etc. Access to UGA Elements is through MyID/SSO login, so only UGA employees/students can see these data, including the ability to “Find a Colleague” and look at other UGA profiles.

Experts@UGA serves as the “public face” of the activities and outputs of UGA faculty (the initial launch will include only faculty). This public site displays a selected subset of the data in UGA Elements in a searchable faculty expertise portal, in which every UGA faculty member has a profile. These public profiles are also individually accessible through a separate persistent URL that can be added to other web sites, faculty directories, etc. Experts@UGA provides access for those external to UGA to information about the expertise and interests of UGA faculty for the purpose of collaboration discovery, identification of experts, graduate student or faculty recruitment, etc.

This collection of tutorials gives UGA Elements faculty users (or their Navigator or delegate) step-by-step instructions for curation of their Elements data to optimize their Experts@UGA public profile.
